Happy Labor Day Weekend!!
In preparation for Labor Day, September 2, 2019, here are a few things to keep in mind to make sure you have a safe and happy weekend. There are hundreds of tips, tricks, and safety measures you should consider, but below are four!
Even though juices and sodas taste great, they don’t properly hydrate you. One of the most common reasons for people having heat exhaustion is due to dehydration! And with this Louisiana sun, you’ve got to stay hydrated! Instead of having sugary sodas or drinks, swap it for some water, to make sure you’re hydrated and stay refreshed. Not sure how much water you need to be drinking? It all depends on your body! Click here to see a chart on how much water you need to be drinking a day to stay hydrated and healthy!
If you plan on being outside for the majority of the day, wear sunscreen! Even if you don’t get sunburns, protecting your skin will help it stay healthy in the long run. Are you planning on doing fireworks that night? Prepare to bring bug spray or for a more eco-friendly option, use bug repellent bracelets! If you have some kids doing sparklers, make sure you’re paying attention, especially once the sparklers is almost complete. A 2005 study found that over 50% of fireworks injuries to children were from sparklers!
Keeping Your Home Safe!
If you plan on grilling or Bar-B-Qing, make sure to keep it at least 5 feet away from your home. Doing that helps avoid any fires and any smoke that could potentially get into your home!
Thinking about doing some fireworks? Make sure you do it in an open, flat area; with nothing in the way i.e., cars, bushes, trees. Also, be patient! Sometimes it might take a few seconds longer to get sufficiently lit and to go off. Once you lit it, make sure to back up at least 7 feet to avoid any debris on yourself and those watching.
Not sure if your home is covered in one of these scenarios? Talk to your agent for answers. Don’t have a home insurance policy at all? It never hurts to protect the things you’ve worked hard and at an affordable cost. Click here to home quote from a local agency.
For any quotes such as auto, life, or commercial, click on the word that associates with it and fill out the form.
